We are looking for a Senior (Technical) Underwriter who will primarily be responsible for day to day assessment and acceptance of new / existing risks and contribution to the branch's Gross Written Premium (GWP) and profitability as well as the technical training & development of all underwriters.

Requirements

• Experience of underwriting property and liability commercial insurance is essential, as are strong negotiation, problem solving, decision making, relationship building and sales skills.

• A proven track record of coaching & developing others and proven experience of being accountable for profitable underwriting performance would be a distinct advantage. 

Responsibilities

• To make decisions regarding the acceptance and rating of complex insurance risks within laid down guidelines and own Personal Underwriting Authority.

• Taking referrals from underwriters and referring upwards to Regional Underwriting Manager and Head Office as appropriate. 

• Process and complete all necessary documentation in relation to both new and existing risks including renewal reviews and negotiation with brokers. 

• Maintain and develop broker relationships. 

• Adherence to FSA and NIG governance and control procedures.

The Individual

Will preferably be ACII qualified or working towards. Previous experience of the agricultural market would be an advantage but not essential as full training will be given.
